If you have ever seen the Hallmark commercials, you will already have
a good idea of the concept I will be discussing throughout this
tutorial. The marketing strategy they are using is ingenious!
The entire focus is on having the customer IMAGINE giving these
special cards to that special someone, and what their reaction might
be.
When you can get your customer thinking BEYOND the sale, making
a decision to buy your product or service TODAY is much easier for
them!
First, it is important to look at each of your pages independently,
because if your site is set up and optimized correctly, they can
easily enter from any point. Every page on your site has the potential
of being the FIRST IMPRESSION the customer has of you.

Content Development Tips
Take the time to carefully evaluate the content on your website. While you
are looking at your pages, ask yourself the following questions:
- Do you help me imagine already owning the products (or using
the services) you provide?
- Do you show pictures of your products that I can click to
enlarge? Do you show me more than one view?
- Do any of the images you provide show the product being used?
- If you told me that owning your product or service will save me MONEY, did
you explain exactly HOW it will save me money?
If so, did you speak to me as if I already OWN the product?
- If you told me that owning your product or service will save me TIME, did
you explain exactly HOW it will save me time? If
so, did you speak to me as if I already OWN the product?
- Do you give me any special incentives to buy right now?
- Looking at your site, would I feel any nervousness as to if
placing an order with you is safe?
- How long would it take me to determine the primary purpose
of this page?
- How hard would it be for me to figure out how to buy this
product or order this service?
- How quickly can I find your shipping information?
- Can I see at a glance what your payment options are?
- If I have more questions, how quickly can I see my options
for contacting you?
- Do you show me where to find more related products or services
on your site?
Another way to find out how easily people can find things on
your site is to find someone who does not know your website well.
While standing beside them, and not helping them at all, ask them
to find some of the above items.
Watch and see how long it takes them. Do not cheat by telling
them the exact text for the information. For example, do not ask,
can you find the "contact us" page? Instead ask, if you wanted to
contact me for more information, where would you go? Follow this
same process for several of the above questions.
Once you take the time to combine your SEO efforts with content
development you will begin to see the online success you have been
working for.
