FrontPage Picture Properties Tutorial

While reading through several FrontPage support groups, I have
noticed that many FP users seem to take far more steps than are
really necessary to add alt tags and title attributes to linked
images. Certainly the quickest route is to be able to work rapidly
from code view, but not all FP users are quite ready for that step yet.
This very basic FrontPage picture properties tutorial is written
with those users in mind.
FrontPage Picture Properties Tutorial Note:The
linked FrontPage Picture Properties screenshots throughout this
tutorial open in a new window. This makes it possible to be able
to work through the steps while referring to the screenshots at
the same time. Simply click the red x to close the screenshot.

STEP 1 - Right Click On The Picture
Right click on the picture and select picture properties.

STEP 2 - Picture Properties Box Appearance
When you complete step 1 above, a picture properties box will
open on the appearance tab. Specify size and
Keep aspect ratio should already be checked for you. If they
are not, add a checkmark.

STEP 3 - Picture Properties Box General
From the same box you were working in during step 2, click on
the General tab. In the text area next to the text
box enter the alt text that you have selected for the picture.
This will automatically add a checkmark in the box next to this
area. If you would like to add an empty alt tag, such as those
used for spacer images, simply place an check in the box, but
do not add any text. This will automatically add an empty alt
tag.
Once you have completed the alt text, click on the browse
button.

STEP 4 - Edit Hyperlink Box
If the image is already linked to another page, you will see
the URL of that page next to the address area of this box.
If the image needs to be linked to another page and you have not
already done so, you can add that information now. Once that is
done, click on the Screen Tip button.

STEP 6 - Edit Hyperlink Target Frame
You will now have been returned to the Edit Hyperlink box.
If the picture is linked to a page on another site other than your own, you may want to have the page open in a
new window. In order to configure this, click on
the Target Frame button. If you do not want the page that
the picture is linked to opening in a new window, you can skip
this step and click on the OK button, as you have already
finished.

STEP 7 - Target Frame Box
In order to have the linked image open a new window when it
is clicked, you will need to set the target frame. Click on New
Window. This will add _blank to the Target setting
text area, which will automatically create the proper HTML code
for the new window. Click the OK button.

Once you get used to setting picture properties in FrontPage,
this will really only take a moment or two to complete, and the
HTML code will be automatically created.
