Website Training Class Guidelines
GNC Web Creations

We have been conducting classes since November of 2003. A few weeks into the classes we realized that for the
classes to truly be effective, there would have to be structure.
Without solid structure in place, the results would not be much
different from the confusion often found in groups and
forums.
We truly understand it takes time to get used to the structure of online
classes. We fully expect mistakes as you adjust to the guidelines.
Teaching every possible scenario is simply not possible.
Those are things that come only with experience. My personal commitment is
to teach you the basics of the topics we provide. HOWEVER, it is
your job to decide how those concepts apply to your site.
The majority of our guidelines regard remembering that you are
in a CLASSROOM.
If you have read all of my responses to the questions
concerning that lesson and do not understand the concept, I want
you to ASK. Do not stop asking until you understand what I am teaching.
If however the question is about how the concept applies to your
specific situation, I want you to think very hard about if the question
is a benefit to the entire class or if it is specific to your situation.
FREE CLASSES PLUS A FULL TIME BUSINESS
People often ask how I can run a full time business AND offer these free
classes. There are a three techniques which make this possible.
- I schedule my time. I schedule specific time every day for the free
classes. But I also limit that time.
- I teach the classes in a structured group setting. I don't handle
questions out of class. If hundreds of students email,
asking for just a couple minutes, it can add up to hours.
- I do not give site specific help for the training classes. I teach the
concepts. Students must decide how the concepts apply to their individual
circumstances.
MY PHONE NUMBER
The phone number on my site is for my commercial clients. I'd love to talk
with you, but I need to keep that number free for my business.
A NOTE ABOUT VOLUNTEERS
Please also apply these same guidelines to the training specialists in the
classes. Remember they are volunteers. Respect their time. If you need private
help from them, ask them about paying for a consultation.
If you are serious about learning how to build a
solid business that will do extremely well in the search engines,
then I recommend reading,

SEO CLASS POSTING GUIDELINES
SEO_Techniques@yahoogroups.com
This is where all of the lessons and tutorials are posted that pertain
specifically to the structured SEO Techniques classes. All postings,
by members in this group are for questions concerning a lesson or
tutorial. The question or clarification request must be made as
a reply to the exact lesson or tutorial that you need assistance
with.
Questions concerning a lesson that is currently being covered, or
has been covered during the CURRENT training session may be posted.
For example, if we are currently on lesson five, you can post any
questions concerning lessons 1-5. If you try to jump ahead, I will
gently remind you that we're not on that yet, but will be soon.
Only rarely will I respond to "site specific" questions or issues.
My job is to teach the concepts and the skills necessary to build
pages that place well in the search engine results. Your job is
to decide how that applies to your site.

Website Development Training and Successful Website Marketing
website_development_training@yahoogroups.com
successful-website-marketing@yahoogroups.com
These classes will follow the structured lesson plans of the
various training specialist. You will be able to respond and ask
questions about lessons and tutorials, but much like the main SEO
Class, it is not structured like a discussion group or forum.
All the standard guidelines in the other groups, apply to these
training classes also.
DO NOT USE THESE TRAINING GROUPS TO DISCUSS SEO OR MAIN GROUP
LESSONS.

General Posting Guidelines
In the structured classes, you may ask questions. You may ask as many
questions as you need to understand what we are teaching. However, those
questions must be in response to a lesson, article, assignment, etc that has
been posted. Members may not start new threads. Members may not add their own
input, or answer other members questions. All questions posted are answered only
by myself, the teacher of the topic, or moderator James S. Huggins.
The Structured Classes Include:
In the interactive discussion groups you can participate fully in the
discussions. You can ask questions, you can answer questions, you can add your
input, and you can start new threads, (topics) based on the specific topic
guidelines of each group. Each group has a specific theme.
The Interactive Discussion Special Focus Groups Include:

Emails generated by the groups AVERAGE 50-100 messages per day. Some days the email count can be higher,
and some days much lower.
If your schedule does not allow the time necessary
to read emails generated by the groups, then you do not have the
time to take the free classes at this time. We respectfully request
that you return later when you have more time available for training.

Please set your automatic email signature to show the URL of the actual web
page you are currently working with. This makes it possible for us to able to
quickly check on your site, as needed for our responses.
Create Email Signature Outlook Express
You may use a simple email signature including your primary business name and
URL. However, you may NOT use this group to market your own (or affiliate)
company products or services at any time.
ACCEPTABLE SIGNATURE EXAMPLE

Contacting a member to offer your services etc. without a specific inquiry
from that member will result in your membership being immediately terminated in
all of our classes and groups.
Trainers are excluded from the simple signature policy when posting lessons and tutorials. We
welcome their bio and link information.

Over several months of watching results, we know
that members who have set their email preferences to receive individual
emails, do much better with the lessons and their results.
All members are required to set their Yahoo Group email
preferences to receive INDIVIDUAL emails. Members choosing
any other options will be automatically removed from classes.
Storage capacity of your server will NOT be considered an exception. If this
is an issue for you, I highly recommend opening a Yahoo email account
specifically for these groups.
SETTING GROUP EMAIL PREFERENCES
To set Yahoo group email preferences, simply sign
into
My Yahoo Groups and click on
"edit my groups". Select the appropriate groups and adjust "message
delivery".

I remember the first time a moderator asked me to
please say my thank you's in advance or off list. I was so offended.
I was spittin' mad. I spent most of my adult life in South Texas
where good manners are not an option. They are a way off life. We
raise our kids to say, please and thank you and to call folks Sir
and Ma’am.
Not saying thank-you, was just not in my nature. Then I began to
realize how in a very busy group, the thank you's could easily add
up to hundreds of extra post in a very short period of time. Many
members are very limited in their time to work on their sites. It
was then I realized that out of respect for the other members that
those types of things HAD to be handled either in advance or privately
OFFLIST.
Including a personal message as PART of a reply is acceptable and
encouraged, but personal messages by themselves belong off list.
return to guidelines

When you reply to a message, it is required to trim the message
so it only includes the part of the original message you are actually
replying to. Please do not trim THE ENTIRE MESSAGE, or we will often
not be able to understand what you are replying to
If you need additional assistance, James
Huggins has provided us with a step by step tutorial for
Trimming List Posts.

The Training Classes Are NOT for the following people:
- Individuals using the groups as a resource now and then to
pop in and ask questions without having read the emails during
the session.
- Individuals not willing or able to take the time to actually
read and follow each step of the lessons, and follow the links
provided as a further resource for the topic. If I take the time
to add a link to a resource for a topic, it is because it is a
necessary step in understanding the lesson or concept being taught.
- Individuals who would like to debate how the groups should
or should not be structured. Thankfully there are many sources
of help available on the net to find a training situation that
works best for you. If you are unable to adhere to the above guidelines,
I am respectfully requesting that you find a group that is more
suitable to your preferences.
- Individuals not willing or able to actively participate in
class.
- Individuals advertising for and being paid for professional SEO services,
using the free classes to optimize their CLIENT sites. These classes are
designed to teach you to increase traffic to YOUR site.
